Job Summary
Objectives
To manage and oversee the Protected Area Trust’s grant-making process ensuring the efficient administration of grant resources, in keeping with Operating Guidelines.
To support the effective implementation of all grants and special programmes while meeting financial and reporting obligations.
- Oversee the Trust’s day-to-day grant-making processes, and organise and conduct activities to improve the overall effectiveness, efficiency and impact of the Trust’s grant-making process including capacity building activities.
- Work closely and conduct routine meetings with grantees on grant preparation and implementation and maintain records of engagement.
- Facilitate site visits to project locations to support the monitoring of grants and the implementation of grants activities where applicable.
- Work closely with grantees to ensure the timely submission of grantees’ report and facilitate the review of these reports by the Secretariat/Board of Trustees.
- Maintain the Trust’s grants database.
- Prepare Grant Agreements using approved templates.
- Support the development, management, implementation and maintenance of a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Framework (MEAL) for the Trust to track progress, measure impact and learn from the implementation of Grants.
- Collect data on key performance indicators against approved MEAL Framework.
- Collect and facilitate the publication of testimonials on grant implementation.
- Support the preparation of annual plans for the Trust’s grant making programme.
- Support the preparation of progress and impact reports to the Board of Trustees, grantees, donors and other key stakeholders.
- Support the monitoring of the Trust’s donor agreements to maintain financial integrity of the resources entrusted to the Trust.
- Support the fostering of programme, project and policy linkages between the Trust and national, regional and international partners.
- Support the Trust in pursuing its resource mobilization targets.
- Routinely perform a variety of programmatic support duties.
- Any other duties assigned
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Project Management and/or Environmental Management/or related field with at least 2 years’ experience in project/programme management.
- Experience working with MEAL frameworks.
- Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
- Knowledge of accounting and finance would be an asset.
- Strong ability to work proactively and independently.
- Openness to travel to remote hinterland areas.
- Experience working in hinterland/remote areas, community groups would be an asset.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
