The Executive Director of the Guyana Protected Areas Trust (PAT) leads the PAT Secretariat, ensuring due attention to the supervision of the function of staff of the secretariat and PAT contractors, and maintenance of the facilities and systems necessary for the efficient and effective functioning of the PAT.
The ED functions as Secretary to the Board of Trustees and is an ex officio member of the Board with no voting rights. The Executive Director also serves as Secretary to all Committees established to aid in achieving the objectives of the Trust. The Executive Director maintains all records of the decisions of the Board of Trustees and Committees, sees that all notices are duly given in accordance with the provisions of the PAT rules, ensures staff members keep corporate financial and other records, and in general perform all duties incident to the office of Secretary and such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Trustees. The Executive Director ensures that the decisions and policies of the Board of Trustees are effectively and efficiently executed and represents the PAT in its dealings with Government, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors, grantees, financial institutions, associations and other groups and entities as may be necessary.
