Grant Description
The Kanashen Green Energy Project represents the first step in establishing renewable energy infrastructure to fully meet the electricity needs of the Kanashen Amerindian Protected Area (KAPA), Guyana’s most remote protected area. This initial phase will install solar panels and battery storage systems on two of the most central and heavily used community buildings—the Community Benab and the Village Church. These facilities function as hubs for governance meetings, cultural and religious events, education sessions, tourism interactions, and broader social activities that strengthen cohesion within the Wai Wai community.
